Seven years ago, a serious car accident left Fletcher Allen ’22 broken in mind and body. He wasn’t sure he’d ever return to the person he was before the accident. So, he set out to build himself back physically and mentally.

“I decided to challenge myself to see what I was capable of,” he said.

“That makes me feel like I’ve summited another mountain,” he said.

Fletcher began his academic journey at Central Oregon Community College. “To be honest, that first day, I never thought I could do it,” he said. But then he started doing well in classes. He made the Dean’s List. A bachelor’s degree seemed possible.

He transferred to K1����-Cascades to pursue a degree in business administration.

“Scholarships from K1����-Cascades have helped me focus on school and maintain a high GPA,” Fletcher said. “I’m completely grateful.”

Attending K1����-Cascades during the pandemic has had its challenges. Fletcher has many college friends who he has only seen virtually.

“We’ve still been able to ask each other for advice on classes, internships and job leads,” he said. “I’m still so proud to be a Beaver.” 

An internship with a logistics company led to a connection with Humm Kombucha, where Fletcher has been offered a position in wholesale customer service after graduation.

“I think I’m even better than I was before the accident,” he said. “I’m so excited for the future.”
